The run up to elections in Tamil Nadu took an interesting turn with RGV throwing his hat in the ring. It’s no secret that several political films are slated for release just before state or central elections. And the focus in Tamil cinema is on the biopics of Jayalalithaa, former TN CM and actress.
While Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi is already in the making, earlier today RGV announced that his next film Sasikala is going to release on the same day as Thalaivi. Although the two films are going to tell different stories, RGV’s story focuses more on the relationship between Jayalalithaa and her former confidant Sasikala. The director also dropped hints that it will include quite a lot of interesting angles features two of the biggest politicians in AIADMK, who are in power now. Rakesh Reddy has produced the film and the trailer is going to release in December.
Interestingly, AIADMK has announced that it’s tying up with BJP to contest in Tamil Nadu elections next year. The timing of these two films and the political environment in the state couldn’t be more explosive for some fireworks at the box office.

The reason why SASIKALA will release on the same day as THALAIVI is because T has no S in it and I want to show the full real story with also E in it . pic.twitter.com/7kuNlNIsr1
