Shraddha Kapoor, who played the lead role in Saaho alongside Prabhas, has urged the Maharashtra government to reconsider its plan to chop down thousands of trees in a forest near Mumbai. She was one among several other Bollywood celebrities who have voiced their concern over an ongoing issue in the city.
For the past several months, environmentalists have been fighting against the Mumbai municipal corporation’s plan to chop more than 2500 trees in Aarey forest area to make space for a car shed for the Mumbai metro. Calling it unacceptable, Shraddha said, “As if we don’t have enough environmental issues already. As if Mumbai doesn’t have environmental pollution already. And the permission is granted to chop off the lungs of the city. This has to stop. #SaveAarey.”
Meanwhile, her latest film, Saaho is doing extremely well at the box office, and it has grossed more than Rs 200 crores in just two days. Prabhas played the lead role in the film and it was directed by Sujeeth.
