Saindhav, starring Victory Venkatesh, is set for a grand release on 13th January. The movie, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, is the 75th film in Venkatesh’s career. The movie is set in a fictional city called Chandraprasta. In a recent interview, the director revealed the reason for creating a fictional place.

Sailesh Kolanu said, “A lot happens in the film. The story involves a huge set of mafia, weapons in addition to Venky sir’s family. I wanted the story to take place in a seaside city. The only seaside city where people speak Telugu is Vizag, and if I go by town, it is Kakinada. But there won’t be believability if I say those events are happening in Vizag and Kakinada.”

Sailesh continued, “The next best thing to do is to set the story in Mumbai. But if I say the story is happening in Mumbai, I need to add a disclaimer stating that for the convenience of the audience, the characters will speak in Telugu. All that I didn’t want to. There are instances in world cinema where filmmakers created fictional places. I believed the same would be best for Saindhav and hence created a geographically non-existent city called Chandrapasta.”
