In a big reveal, popular filmmaker Gunasekhar confirmed the ongoing speculation and announced that actress Samantha will be playing the titular role of Shakuntala in his ambitious mythological magnum opus, Shaakuntalam. Needless to say, Samantha’s fans are thrilled with this special surprise on the New Year.
Samantha has portrayed numerous characters in her decade-long career. However, a mythological role like Shakunthala is a first time in her career and fans couldn’t be more excited. The shooting will kick-start soon in Hyderabad. Veteran composer Manisharma is composing the soundtrack for this project, while Neelima Guna is bankrolling it.
