It’s well known that a biopic on legendary Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly has been in the making for the past few months. While acclaimed Bollywood director Vikramaditya Motwane helms this prestigious project, there has been intense speculation about the actor who will play Sourav Ganguly in the movie.
And the suspense has been ended by Sourav Ganguly himself. In a latest media interaction, the former batsman and captain has confirmed that National Award-winning Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will portray him in the biopic based on his life. Sourav went on to reveal that some scheduling conflicts due to the non-availability of the lead actors’ dates may cause a delay in the film’s release. He further disclosed that the film might take over a year to hit release in cinemas.
Sourav Ganguly is regarded as one of the game’s all-time greats. The way he had transformed the face of Indian cricket during his captaincy still serves as an inspiration to the young generation cricketers. In a glorious career spanning 113 Tests and 311 ODIs, the ‘Prince of Bengal’ scored a total of 18,575 runs in international cricket. He went on to become the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2020.
