Released in 2010, Kollywood star Karthi and acclaimed Tamil director Selvaraghavan’s action adventurous historical thriller, Aayirathil Oruvan (Yuganiki Okkadu in Telugu), received cult status for its unique theme and backdrop. This morning, Selva took to Twitter and made a shocking revelation after 11 since the film’s release.
“The actual budget of #aayirathiloruvan was 18 crores. But we decided to announce it as a 32 crore film to hype it as a mega budget film. What stupidity! Even though the film managed to collect the actual budget it was regarded as average! Learnt not to lie whatever the odds are,” tweeted Selva.
The director, who is busy with back-to-back movies as an actor of late, will be directing his brother and star hero Dhanush in Aayirathil Oruvan’s sequel.
