Sai Durgha Tej’s political drama Republic, directed by Deva Katta, is one of the underrated gems in Telugu cinema. The film received critical acclaim, but didn’t perform well in theatres. However, after its OTT release, the film achieved the desired reach and stirred conversations about the social issues it explored. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Sai Durgha Tej confirmed that a sequel to Republic is in the making.
Bharadwaj Rangan asked the actor if he would make a sequel to any of his films since the franchise culture is the vogue at the moment. Sai Durgha Tej replied, “It will be the Republic. Mr. Deva is working on it. His idea is very interesting. Hope everything sets up to that level.”
He added, “But for the sequel to happen, the writing has to be very important. The more he (Deva Katta) writes, he will get a better understanding whether or not to make a part 2. I suggested to him not to think about Republic 2. All I told him was to think of writing a good script.”
