Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has been facing censor issues for the past few days. Due to the delay in the process, theatre chains have been unable to open advance bookings in India. Hence, the movie team approached the Madras High Court seeking directions for the issuance of the censor certificate.
Today, the hearing took place, and after hearing the arguments from both sides, the court reserved its order, which will be pronounced on the morning of January 9. If the verdict comes in favor of the movie team, it may still take some time for the Censor Board to issue the certificate, which technically means the film could be postponed from the scheduled release date (January 9).
The overseas premieres might also get cancelled, since the court’s verdict is yet to come out. It’s a wait-and-watch situation now for fans and all stakeholders. Going by the latest development, the Telugu and other dubbed versions are unlikely to be released on the said date.
