Telangana government is all set to replace the iconic Nandi Awards for achievements in films with Simham Awards. The Simham Awards will honours artistes and technicians in 40 categories and the first ever Simham Awards will be presented on Ugadi next year.
A special committee headed by the state advisor KV Ramanachari yesterday submitted its recommendations to Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav who inturn forwarded it to the CM’s office for KCR’s approval.
Following are the committee’s recommendations:
* NT Ramarao Memorial National Award for excellence in Indian Cinema. Rs.5 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to be awarded.
* Paidi Jayaraj Memorial National Award to legendary movie personality. Rs.5 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to be awarded.
* Raghupathi Venkaiah Memorial Award to legendary Telugu movie personality. Rs.5 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to be awarded.
* Janatha Rao Memorial Award to legendary movie personality from Telangana. Rs.5 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to be awarded.
** Best Film
* First Best Film – Rs.5 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the Producer and Simhams to Director, Hero and Heroine.
* Second Best Film – Rs.3 lakh cash prize and Silver Simham to the Producer and Simhams to Director, Hero and Heroine.
* Third Best Film – Rs.2 lakh cash prize and Bronze Simham to the Producer and Simhams to Director, Hero and Heroine.
* Best Family Entertainer – Dr. Prabhakar Reddy Memorial Award. Rs.2 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the producer.
* Best Wholesome Entertainer – Rs.2 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the producer.
* Best Film on National Integrity – Sarojini Naidu Memorial Award. Rs.2 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the producer and Bronze Simham to the Director.
* First Best Children’s Film – Rs.2 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the producer and Rs.1 lakh cash prize and Bronze Simham to the Director.
* Second Best Children’s Film – Rs.1 lakh cash prize and Silver Simham to the producer and Rs.50,000 cash prize and Silver Simham to the Director.
* Best Director of a Children’s Film – Rs.1 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the Director.
* Best Book on Telugu Cinema – Rs.50,000 cash prize and Bronze Simham to the author.
* Best Movie Critic – Rs.30,000 cash prize and Bronze Simham to the critic.
* Rs.1 lakh cash prize and Golden Simham to the Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Golden Simham to Best Supporting Actors.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Golden Simham to Best Comedian.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Golden Simham to Best Villain.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Golden Simham to Best Child Actor.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Silver Simham to Best First-time Director and Hero and Heroine.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Golden Simham to Best Story Writer, Lyricist, Cinematographer.
* Chakri Memorial Award and Rs.50,000 to Best Music Director.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Golden Simham to Best Playback Singer Male and Female.
* Rs.50,000 cash prize and Bronze Simham to Best Editor, Best Art Director, Best Choreographer, Best Sound Designer, Best Costume Designer, Best Make-up Artist, Best Stunt Coordinator, Best Dubbing Artiste, Best Visual Effects Supervisor and Special Categories.
