Raayan, written and directed by Dhanush, is up for a grand release this Friday. There wasn’t much buzz initially, but once the theatrical trailer came out, the action drama sparked discussion among the audience. Raayan is the 50th film for Dhanush as an actor.
The bookings commenced a few days ago, and the movie is showing terrific momentum in ticket sales. Raayan’s pre-sales surpassed the 2 crore mark in Tamil Nadu and it is all set to open in double digits in this region. Karnan is the biggest opener for Dhanush with 10 crores gross in Tamil Nadu, and looking at the advances, Raayan is expected to go past Karnan’s opening day numbers by a good margin.
If the reports are favorable, the openings will be much bigger. In Telugu, there isn’t much hype, and the box office performance depends entirely on word of mouth. Raayan is also releasing in Hindi simultaneously. SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar played vital roles.
