During the lockdown last year, Bollywood star Sonu Sood turned saviour to thousands of migrant workers, poor people and jobless across the country. Sonu was hailed as a real-life superhero by everyone. And now, with the second wave of Coronavirus wreaking havoc, Sonu, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, is back to saving lives.
In a touching gesture, Sonu got a critically ill COVID-19 patient airlifted in an air-ambulance from Nagpur to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Apparently, the patient, Bharti, had lost almost 85-90 percent of her lungs due to COVID-19 and when doctors gave up hope, Sonu got her admitted to Wockhardt hospital, Nagpur.
Doctors declared that Bharti needed a lung transplant or ECMO treatment which was possible only at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad. Within no time, Sonu, who is under home isolation, consulted the directors of the Apollo Hospitals and managed to get Bharti admitted to Apollo Hospitals by airlifting her with the help of an air ambulance.
Sonu said that doctors had told him that the chances are 20 percent and asked him whether he still wanted to go ahead with the entire procedure. “I said ‘Of course. She is a 25-year-old young girl and she will fight the battle hard and she will come out of it stronger.’ The treatment is going well in Apollo Hospitals, and we hope for the best. She will recover and come back soon,” Sonu said.
