Sreekar Prasad takes a dig at critics for not understanding film editing

National Award–winning editor Sreekar Prasad made a bold statement during his Masterclass–Editing Workshop, calling out the lack of understanding among many film critics.

Speaking at the IFFI in Goa he said, “Probably half the critics don’t even know how to judge good and bad editing. Whenever a film doesn’t do well, the first thing they say is that the editing could have trimmed 20 minutes.”

Prasad added that editing is one of the most misunderstood crafts in filmmaking, and reducing criticism to simply cutting the film short reflects a weak grasp of the art form. His remarks have sparked discussions online.
