Sukumar is one of the few directors in Telugu cinema today who makes it a point to present his heroes differently. Right from Arya to his recent film 100% Love, the heroes in his films display a peculiar behaviour which is quite unusual compared to heroes in most other films. One classic example is Allu Arjun’s characterization in Aarya 2. It takes a lot of time to understand the motivation behind his actions and even in the end, a lot of people find such characters quite unconvincing and far from reality.
When Sukumar was asked about why heroes in his films are so different, he replied, “We all have a lot of emotions and we suppress most of them fearing rejection. Problems arise when we don’t enjoy all feelings like jealousy, selfishness and don’t express them. To achieve something, there must be a driving force and that could be jealousy.”
After having dabbled with themes like jealousy in 100% Love and selfishness in Aarya 2, we’ll have to wait and see what he has done in his upcoming film ‘1’-Neeokkadine. Mahesh Babu and Kriti Sanon are playing the lead roles in this stylish action thriller and Mahesh Babu will be seen in the role of a rockstar. Devi Sri Prasad has scored the music. Anil Sunkara, Gopichand and Ram Achanta are producing the film under 14 Reels Entertainments Pvt Ltd banner. The film is expected to release on January 10.
