Starring Venkatesh in the lead role, the official Telugu remake of Mollywood stalwart Mohanlal’s critically acclaimed thriller, Drishyam 2, commenced a couple of months ago. Jeethu Joseph, the director of the Malayalam original, is helming the Telugu remake as well.
Drushyam 2’s shoot was wrapped up last week. Since then, there have been non-stop reports that Drushyam 2 will skip its theatrical release due to COVID-19 second wave and that the film will directly premiere on a leading OTT platform. The buzz further had it that Drushyam 2 will start streaming in either May or June.
However, one of the film’s producers Suresh Babu has rubbished these rumours and clarified that Drushyam 2 will have its theatrical release first after which the OTT premiere will follow. Anthony P, the producer of Drishyam’s Malayalam franchise, is co-producing the Telugu remake.
