Taapsee is thrilled with the response for her Bollywood debut, despite mixed reviews. Her latest film Chashme Baddoor had released across India few days ago and the the film got off to a fairly good start at box office. A leading Bollywood trade analyst, Taran Adarsh wrote, “CHASHME BADDOOR took a lot of industry people by surprise as it opened to fairly good houses in morning shows. With no major opposition to contend with and armed with positive word of mouth and reviews from critics who matter, the business should witness an upward trend from Friday evening onwards. A respectable [weekend] total is on the cards!”
On the other hand, Taapsee has got mixed reviews for her performance in the film. Top critic, Rajeev Masand wrote saying, ” The same, unfortunately, can’t be said of the leading lady who exudes the charm of an ice cube” and Anupama Chopra was equally scathing and said, “Pannu who at regular intervals has to say, dum hai boss, doesn’t fare much better. She’s totally forgettable.” However, she received good reviews from Taran Adarsh and Baradwaj Rangan, who said, “even Taapsee Pannu (as the love interest, Seema) strikes all the right notes. (If you’ve seen her flounder about in her Tamil and Telugu films, you’ll understand my astonishment. What a difference knowing the language makes.”
Despite all these mixed reviews, Taapsee seemed quite happy with the early response and termed it as a ‘dream start’. Soon after the film’s release, she tweeted saying, “Thanq so much everyone for giving #ChashmeBaddoor a dream start! N as I always say, it’s a perfect debut n u all have made it even better! A superb gang of co-actors, viacom18 for whom I was a star frm d day they signed me n the captain himself, David sir, u r the director no. 1” Currently, she has taken some time off and is holidaying in Maldives.
