During an interaction in France, the filmmaker recalled the biggest gamble from Simhadri, his second directorial and second collaboration with Jr NTR after Student No. 1.
The debate revolved around a pivotal scene in which Jr NTR’s character consciously kills a good man to save thousands of innocent lives. Rajamouli revealed that his family and creative team believed audiences would never accept a hero taking such a morally complex decision. But he was convinced the conflict would resonate with viewers, insisting that the emotional dilemma was the soul of the story.
Rajamouli’s instinct proved right as Simhadri became a blockbuster, with the much-debated sequence earning widespread appreciation from audiences.
