Amidst huge controversy, the Hindi film The Kerala Story hit the screens on Friday. Starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhu Idnani in crucial roles, the movie is said to be based on true events about a few Kerala women who are converted to Muslims and made part of ISIS.
Also, a petitioner requested the Supreme Court to stop its release, but the court didn’t agree. On day one, the movie sprung a surprise by collecting 8 crores nett. On its second day, the film showed solid growth and amassed 11 crores nett taking its two-day total to 19 crores nett. This is a very impressive number considering the lack of star power and budget of the flick.
A few medium-budget and big-scale films lately from Bollywood, too, didn’t earn this number. Going by the momentum, the film is set for a solid long run. Sudipto Sen directed The Kerala Story, which was produced by Vipul Amrutal Shah.
