Tamil director Venkat Prabhu, last seen with The Greatest of All Time, has finally addressed the buzz surrounding his much-discussed film with Sivakarthikeyan and the recent remarks made by his father, Gangai Amaran.
Venkat Prabhu and Sivakarthikeyan were earlier set to collaborate on a sci-fi film under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films. The project had entered the pre-production stage, with the director also involved in VFX pre-work, but it never made it to the floors. The same production house has now moved ahead with Sivakarthikeyan’s SK27, which is being directed by Parking fame Ramkumar Balakrishnan.
The development drew attention after Gangai Amaran made indirect remarks about the actor without taking his name. The comments sparked speculation online, prompting Venkat Prabhu to step in and clear the air.
Taking to social media, Venkat said Sivakarthikeyan is “always a dear friend/brother” to him and explained that the project could not take off due to various reasons. He also said that, as a father, Gangai Amaran’s frustration was understandable when a film involving his son kept getting delayed.
Venkat further clarified that he keeps his professional matters private and does not discuss them in detail with anyone, including his father. Making his stand clear, he said, “The project couldn’t take off due to various reasons. That’s it. No hard feelings.”
The director also expressed his willingness to work with Sivakarthikeyan again if the right script comes along. He ended his statement by asking everyone to “put a full stop to all this” and said he is now focused on his next project.
With Venkat Prabhu’s statement, the status of the earlier collaboration and his equation with Sivakarthikeyan have been clarified. Responding to Venkat, Sivakarthikeyan said, “Sir, we are family. Why are you taking this so seriously and responding to it?”
He thanked Venkat for his wishes and added, “I’ve told you this before, and I’m saying it again – I’ll always be a VP fan. I’m waiting to collaborate with you soon, sir.”
The response makes it clear that there are no hard feelings between the two, while also expressing Sivakarthikeyan’s interest in working with Venkat Prabhu again.
