Since March 2, single screens and multiplexes across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have stopped screening Telugu movies. The move was part of the theater strike called by the JAC of all the four South Indian film producers’ councils which are protesting against the exorbitant Virtual Print Fee (VPF) being charged by the Digital Service Providers (DSPs).
However, the JAC Chairman and senior producer D Suresh Babu told the media that Telugu movies are most likely to be screened in multiplexes and single screens from mid next week. The JAC reportedly took this decision following a meeting with the DSPs on Saturday.
“Everything seemed positive at the end of the meeting. While some of our demands are being fulfilled on short-term basis, others will be fulfilled on a long-term basis. A final agreement will be made on Monday following which the ban on Telugu movies shall be rolled back,” Suresh Babu said.
