Tollywood romantic drama Raju Weds Rambai created a sensation with its shock value content and realistic presentation. Akhil Raj Uddemari and Tejaswini played the lead roles in this film, directed by debutant Sailu Kaampati. The film received applause from critics and was also a profitable venture.
The interesting thing is that the makers initially approached Mem Famous fame Sumanth Prabhas for the lead role. While promoting his new film Godari Gattupaina, the actor revealed this.
“I was supposed to do Raju Weds Rambai. Sailu anna felt I would be the right fit. I found the story crazy and saw the excitement levels of Sailu anna. I told him that the film will become a blockbuster, and people will talk about it. At that time, I didn’t want to be part of another Telangana-backdrop movie after Mem Famous. I might not be the correct person for it, but the script is excellent. The execution was even more impactful than the narration,” said Sumanth Prabhas.
