The romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, headlined by Harshavardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in the lead roles, was a disaster in its initial run. However, over time, the film gained a cult status as more people started to connect with its emotional depth and lead actors’ performances. The soothing music composed by Himesh Reshammiya is one more reason for the film’s timeless appeal.
Films like Sanam Teri Kasam and Tumbbad once again proved that good-content films will always find their audience irrespective of their initial results. Till now, Tumbbad has been the highest grosser in India among re-releases, with Rs. 32 crores nett. Now, Sanam Teri Kasam has surpassed Tumbbad to become the all-time highest-grossing re-release film in India.
Interstellar had a shot at this milestone, but the production house limited the re-release to just 7 days. Sanam Teri Kasam’s repeat run success will surely encourage more filmmakers to re-release their movies, which have the capacity to transcend time. The other recent re-releases which created massive waves at the Indian box office are Ghilli and Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani.
