It is a known fact that Samantha is doing a film called Shakunthalam that is being directed by Gunasekhar. The film has already started its shoot and was halted due to the covid scare.
So many names were considered by the makers initially. Anushka was approached first but she did not do the film for reasons unknown and finally Samantha made the cut.
When asked director Gunasekhar why he chose Smanatha, he said that it was not his choice but his daughter, Neelima Guna’s idea.
The noted director says that when he was struggling with the casting, his daughter suggested Sam’s name and when Gunasekhar met Samantha, he felt confident about the casting and went ahead.
