This recognition is not mine alone – Kamal Haasan on Oscars honor

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, aka the Oscars, recently invited legendary Indian actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan to be a member. Fans and film industry well-wishers congratulated the actor par excellence on this well-deserved honor.

Kamal took to X on Saturday evening and shared his delight over the Academy honor. “I am honoured to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,” the legend said, also adding, “this recognition is not mine alone, it belongs to the Indian film community and the countless storytellers who shaped me. Indian cinema has so much to offer the world, and I look forward to deepening our engagement with the global film fraternity.”

Kamal went on to congratulate his fellow artists and technicians who have joined the prestigious Academy. Following this special honor, Kamal will be voting for his favorite movies, actors, and technicians, who will be winning the coveted golden statuette at the 98th Academy Awards, which are scheduled to be held on March 16, 2026. On the work front, Kamal was recently seen in Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life.
