Vishnu Manchu’s dream project, Kannappa, is being made on a massive scale with a budget exceeding Rs. 140 crore. Helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, this pan-world mythological epic has been creating a buzz with its star-studded cast and grandeur.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Vishnu Manchu revealed that Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was approached twice for the role of Lord Shiva but turned it down both times. However, he was later convinced to take on the role with the help of a prominent director.

Vishnu explained that Akshay agreed only after being told that while many actors had portrayed Lord Shiva in the past, he should be the defining face of the deity for this generation. The identity of the director who played a key role in securing Akshay’s involvement remains undisclosed.

The film also stars Preity Mukundhan as the female lead, alongside an ensemble cast featuring Prabhas, Mohan Babu, Kajal Aggarwal, and Mohanlal. Jointly produced by 24 Frames Factory and Ava Entertainment, Kannappa is set for a grand theatrical release on April 25, 2025.
