Shankar has been going through a poor phase for the past few years. It has been quite some time since the director delivered a big hit, and his last two outings, Game Changer and Indian 2, turned out to be major flops. The director is currently focusing on his dream project, Velpari.
Earlier, we reported the possibility of Dhanush starring in Velpari, and the latest buzz suggests that the script has space for one more hero. It is now being said that Shankar has initiated talks with versatile Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal. The actor impressed one and all with his breathtaking performance in the period action drama Chhaava, and that might be one of the reasons Shankar is considering casting him.
Shankar is reportedly seeking two years of call sheets from Dhanush, and it remains to be seen whether the actors will come on board. Pen Studios is expected to bankroll the big-budget project.
