Veteran actor Mohan Babu completes 48 years in Indian Cinema

Veteran actor, filmmaker and educationist Manchu Mohan Babu has turned yet another memorable chapter in his illustrious cinematic journey. The Dialogue King has completed 48 years in Indian Cinema today. On this day, in 1975, Mohan Babu’s maiden film as a hero, Swargam Narakam, directed by his guru Dasari Narayana Rao, released in cinemas and the rest is history.

Born Bhaktavatsalam Naidu, Mohan Babu began his cinematic journey in the early 1970s and played small characters in a couple of movies, before making his debut as a hero with Swargam Narakam. Within no time, he gained prominence in the film industry and earned a solid fan base for his unique mannerisms and dialogue delivery. The negative roles he had played in the initial days still remain the best in his career.

After establishing himself as a hero, Mohan Babu turned filmmaker by launching his film production house, Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, in 1982. Assembly Rowdy, Pedarayudu, Alludu Garu and Major Chandrakanth are some of the memorable movies in the 71-year-old actor’s career.

Mohan Babu also instituted Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust and is successfully running several schools and colleges since 1993. In 2022, he established Mohan Babu University in Tirupati. The Government of India honored Mohan Babu with India’s fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri, in 2007.
