After many delays, Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is finally hitting the big screens on July 23. However, the overseas advances are underwhelming considering Vijay’s stardom in international markets. Currently, in North America, the film has grossed $350K from premiere pre-sales two days ahead of its release, whereas the advances stood at a massive $820K during the same period in January.
The situation is similar in other overseas territories as well, with the response being lukewarm. Netizens are divided over whether the muted advances are due to the leak impact, the remake factor, or the constant delays. Whatever the reason, the excitement is certainly not as high as one would expect for a star hero’s final film.
