Vijay, AR Murugadoss’ Sarkar has set a new record at the box office in Chennai, as per the latest reports in Kollywood. Apparently, it now holds the record for being the first film to gross more than Rs 2 crores from Chennai city alone. Early estimates suggest that the first day’s gross could be close to Rs 2.3 crores, which is bigger than Kaala’s record of Rs 1.7 crores.
The political drama is expected to gross Rs 30 crores on the first day, and the distributors in Tamil Nadu are said to be quite pleased with the openings. In USA too, the film opened to good numbers, and now, it remains to be seen if the film can manage to maintain its momentum.
Keerthy Suresh played the lead role alongside Vijay, whereas Varalaxmi Sarathkumar played a crucial role as the antagonist.
