Kamal Haasan’s recent confession that he’ll definitely make his long awaited film, Marudhanayagam has become a hot topic in Tamil film industry. The maverick actor, however, added that he won’t be playing the lead role in the film even if he directs it. Interestingly, this has led many people to believe that Vikram is likely to play the role which was originally supposed to be played by Kamal Haasan.

Back in 1997, Kamal Haasan had launched his ambitious film, Marudhanayagam with great fanfare, and even shot few portions of the film. However, he suffered major loses when the production ran in major loses when a British company pulled out of the project and it was put in back burner. Further, the escalating budget was a primary concern for Kamal Haasan and it hasn’t been revived ever since.

However, for the past few days, there’s a buzz in Kollywood that Kamal Haasan’s production company has initiated talks with Vikram to play the lead role. If all goes well, the film could take off in 2021 after Vikram completes his current commitments. However, it remains to be seen if this dream project of Kamal Haasan will ever get made or not.
