One of Bollywood’s most awaited movies, War 2, was released a day before Independence Day. Led by Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR (in his Bollywood debut), the spy action thriller is helmed by Ayan Mukerji.
The results fell short of expectations from fans and trade analysts. The movie in Nizam raked in Rs. 1.30 crore on Sunday (day 4), slightly less than Saturday’s share of Rs. 1.65 crore. It was expected to rake in more on the holiday, but the differing word of mouth and competition from Coolie put a cap on its earnings.
With this, the total for the first weekend (4 days), including all languages, stands close to Rs. 10 crore. How much more it will earn at the box office this week, the jury is still out.
War 2 also includes star heroine Kiara Advani, with Bobby Deol making a cameo appearance. The movie is backed by a deep pocket under the Yash Raj Films banner. Stay tuned for more collection updates on this film.
