With the One Nation One Tax (GST) all set to be implemented from July 1, the Telangana government on Friday issued a GO, putting a cap on movie ticket rates in the state. As per the latest GO, movie lovers will have to shell out extra, costing a hole in their pockets.
The new ticket hike has been classified into 4 groups, GHMC Region, Municipalities, Panchayats and Multiplexes. The ticket rates are inclusive of all the taxes (Maintenance and Entertainment/GST). Below are the new ticket rates:
GHMC Region:
AC theaters
Balcony – Rs 120
Lower Class – Rs 40
Non-AC theaters
Balcony – Rs 60
Lower Class – Rs 20
Municipalities:
AC theaters
Balcony – Rs 80
Lower Class – Rs 30
Non-AC theaters
Balcony – Rs 60
Lower Class – Rs 20
Panchayats:
AC theaters
Balcony – Rs 70
Lower Class – Rs 20
Non-AC theaters
Balcony – Rs 50
Lower Class – Rs 15
Multiplexes:
Gold Class – Rs 300
Executive Class – Rs 200
The front 2 rows must be allotted to Lower Class. Also, an online ticketing system will be introduced where theaters and multiplexes will have the flexibility for dynamic pricing. However, ticket rates may only be decreased and not increased by the theater managements.
