Released in 2010, acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Gautham Menon’s Ye Maaya Chesave became a cult romantic drama. Produced by Manjula Ghattamaneni, the film marked Samantha’s debut in Tollywood and her first film with her husband Naga Chaitanya.

In a latest interview while promoting his soon-to-release romantic action thriller, Thoota, Gautham Menon revealed that he had initially written a tragic climax for Ye Maaya Chesave. He said he was told that Telugu audience wouldn’t accept a tragedy. “I felt ashamed about it, but had to change the climax, even though it was inspired by real life,” Gautham said.

Thoota has Tamil star Dhanush and Megha Akash in lead roles. The film hits screens on September 6.
