When the first glimpse of Peddi was dropped a year ago, the scene that caught everyone’s attention was the unique cricket shot, where Ram Charan comes down the pitch, hits the bat on the ground, and then smashes the ball for a six. Another such shot was seen at the end of the Rai Rai Raa Raa song, too. The innovative shots indeed captivated audiences, and cinematographer Ratnavelu has now explained the logic behind those unconventional shots.
Ratnavelu said, “Peddi is a guy who is not a perfect cricketer. He is a village brat and plays gully cricket. He can’t play textbook cricket shots like cover drives, pull shots, or straight drives. So he does all kinds of stunts, puts a beedi in his mouth, and whacks the ball for a six. We interacted with local players to design those shots.”
The big-ticket entertainer marks the maiden production of Vriddhi Cinemas, headed by Venkata Satish Kilaru. AR Rahman has composed the tunes. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyyendu Sharma, and Boman Irani.
