Director Harish Shankar occasionally lands in unwanted controversies with his movies. During DJ’s release, Harish had faced intense criticism from the Brahmin community and he had to even replace a few phrases in a particular song. Now, his latest film, Valmiki, has been mired in an unexpected controversy for the last couple of days.
Several members of the Boya Valmiki community in the twin Telugu states are protesting against the makers using the title Valmiki for a crime drama. They have warned of huge protests if the makers do no replace the title. A police complaint has also been filed in this regard.
Responding to the complaint, Harish has said that he will ‘consider’ the protestors’ concerns. He has also clarified that Valmiki is not Varun Tej’s name in the film. Now, the big question is whether Harish Shankar and the producers will change the film’s title.
