Actor Sree Vishnu is known for his distinct story selections. The actor has now come up with an action drama titled Alluri in which he plays a ferocious cop. The movie team mentioned that the film is about the depiction of Police officials’ greatness. It has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Iqbal, son of Naseeruddin (Tanikella Bharani) attempts to become a Police officer. After trying for a few years he fails to make it. Heavily saddened by this Iqbal thinks to get into some other job. Naseeruddin who worked under CI Alluri Seetha Rama Raju (Sree Vishnu) narrates the powerful and inspiring life story of A. Rama Raju to motivate his son. This film is all about the journey of Rama Raju who has come up a long way in his career by facing many challenges both professionally and personally.
Plus Points:
We have seen Sree Vishnu deliver some very good performances before mostly as a lover boy. Here in Alluri, the actor undergoes a complete transformation which is required for a ferocious cop role and he performed with terrific conviction. He is the heart and soul of the movie and shines in it all the way.
There are a few good moments like the Police working together with Naxals which were presented skilfully. Most of the fight sequences featuring Sree Vishnu came out well. The climax is completely shocking and hard-hitting which moves us emotionally.
Tanikella Bharani got a role that had a good scope in the second half of the film and the veteran actor did complete justice to it. Suman and Raja Ravindra were okay in their respective roles.
Minus Points:
The screenplay of the film is very old-fashioned and lacks any punch and freshness. A few scenes go way over the top and don’t look convincing. They seem fine on paper, but when it comes to the execution the director falters. There is a lot of amateur making visible in many instances of the film.
The romantic track between the lead pair doesn’t fare well as it takes too much screen time. The songs come in between as speed breakers while there is a serious chain of scenes going on. The emotional angle between the lead actors didn’t work either.
The violence portions are heavy and they may not appeal to all sections of the audience. The film is way too long with many boring sequences and especially the second half of the film is dragged unnecessarily. Few scenes also do remind us of the films that have come in this genre.
Technical Aspects:
The background score by Harshavardhan Rameshwar is very good and it elevates the action blocks. The camera work by Raj Thota is just about okay. The editing team should have trimmed the length of the film at least by fifteen minutes or so to make things better.
The production values are decent. Coming to director Pradeep Varma his intent to deliver a solid cop story is fine but he does a below-par job with his narration that hardly is engaging. Had he come up with a better screenplay the overall range of the film would have been enhanced.
Verdict:
On the whole, Alluri does engage only in a few scenes. The idea is good but the immature execution plays a spoilsport here. Sree Vishnu’s honest performance and good action sequences are brought down by the outdated screenplay making the film just an okayish watch for the mass audience this weekend.
