Noted director Siva Nageswara Rao, well known for movies like Money and Sisindri, wielded the megaphone after many years for Dochevarevarura. The film has hit theaters today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :

Siddhu Sr. (Pranava Chandra) and Siddhu Jr. (child artiste Chakri) steal to earn their livelihood. Siddhu Sr. meets Lucky (Malavika Sateesan), and they fall in love with each other. Siddhu decides to assist Lucky in solving her problems. Meanwhile, Vimal (Ajay Ghosh), hires PK Satthi (Bithiri Satthi) to murder his wife Parvathy (Pranavi Sadhanala). What is the reason behind Vimal’s plan to kill his wife? What is the connection between Satthi and Siddhu? You’ll get these answers when you watch the film.

Plus Points :

It is good to see director Siva Nageswara Rao back with another crime comedy film. In this movie, the director focuses more on the villain and his backstory, which is of course the key part of the story.

Ajay Ghosh, who portrayed supporting and villainous roles to date, played a hero in this movie. In addition, he portrayed dual roles, which makes the story a bit more interesting in the second half.

Pranava Chandra, son of lyricist Chaitanya Prasad, performed well and so is the heroine Malavika Sateesan. They both neatly played their respective roles. The pair also looks good on screen.

Child artiste Chakri delivers his best. Besides performance, his dialogue delivery is impressive and the good part is, he helps the film big time with his comedy timing. Sadanala also gave a neat performance, which evokes laughs, especially in the second half. The others are just okay in their given roles.

Minus Points :

Director Siva Nageswara Rao chose a crime comedy drama that barely has anything intriguing. We have seen this kind of stories many years ago. In addition, the narration is quite boring and tests the patience of the audience.

Although the film has some comedy scenes that evoke laughter here and there, the rest of the story falls flat, making one wonder what the director wanted to convey with the film.

The emotional scenes could have been written and established better to make Dochevarevarura an okay fare. They look funny, blame the proceedings.

The director should have concentrated more on other characters played by Bithiri Satthi, Benarji and Tanikella Bharani. He failed to bring out the best in them.

Technical Aspects :

It would be appropriate to say that Siva Nageswara Rao has failed in every aspect. The story he chose to tell is outdated and has nothing to impress audiences. Cinematography by Arli and the background score by Karthik are just about average.

A couple of tracks composed by Rohith Varrdhan are good to listen to and even to watch on the big screen. The editor still has many scenes to trim in both the halves. Production values are just fine and the makers could have been more cautious about the dubbing and DI.

Verdict :

On the whole, Dochevarevarura is a below par film that has nothing to offer except for very few comedy scenes. It would be wise to skip this movie and consider watching other movies instead.
