Bollywood Megastar Salman Khan’s latest movie Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan hit the screens worldwide today amid high expectations. The film also has Telugu actors like Venkatesh and Jagapathi Babu. Check out our review to know whether the film has met the expectations or not.

Story :

Bhaijaan (Salman Khan) decides not to get married as he doesn’t want a girl to separate him from his beloved brothers – Moh (Jassie Gill), Love (Siddharth Nigam) and Ishq (Raghav Juyal). Bhagya Lakshmi Gundamaneni (Pooja Hegde), a Hyderabadi, enters Bhaijaan’s house as a tenant and changes his perspective towards marriage. Goons attack them, and Bhaijaan comes to know that they are after Bhagya. Who is Bhagya? Why did the goons try to kill Bhagya? Who is Annayya (Venkatesh)? The movie has all the answers.

Plus Points :

Salman Khan is back with an action-packed emotional drama Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. He is good in some scenes, especially in the second half. His dialogues with Venky and his performance in the emotional scenes are good.

Telugu star actor Victory Venkatesh gets a meaty role. His screen presence is so nice, and as said above, his scenes with Salman Khan are a feast to the eyes.

Pooja Hegde looks beautiful, and her performance is impressive. The rest of the cast is just okay. The emotional scenes worked to an extent. The metro fight and the goons attacking Venky’s house scenes are captured well. The production values are good, and so is the background score.

Minus Points :

Everyone is aware that this movie is an official remake of the Tamil blockbuster, Veeram (2014), which was also remade in Telugu as Katamarayudu (2017) and in Kannada as Odeya (2019). However, the story of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is altered a bit.

As an actor, Salman Khan is good, but if we consider his stardom, KKBKKJ is just a below-par film. It is unclear what made Salman choose the script that already failed when remade in Telugu and Kannada. At some point, one will wonder whether it is Salman’s film or Venky’s. There are such scenes that make one feel so.

The story lacks novelty, and one can easily predict the outdated script. A love scene comes in between two warning scenes, and at a point, audiences will say, “What’s happening?” The connectivity between the scenes is not established well.

Jagapathi Babu, the antagonist who seeks revenge, should have been shown as a powerful villain. But his actions and dialogues remind us of 80s villains. Also, Bhumika Chawla has nothing to do in his film.

Some songs are good to listen to. Some of the song placements are inappropriate, and they are like hurdles to the story. The climax portion is so outdated, and the director could have written and executed it better.

One would think that the movie will have moments that are whistle-worthy. Unfortunately, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has not many such moments but has a few facepalm moments instead.

Farhad Samji, Sparsh Khetarpal, and Tasha Bhambra made a few changes to the script, and they are fine. However, they should have taken more care of Salman’s character because his fans expect something special from him.

Technical Aspects :

Director Farhad Samji fails big time to make Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan a better movie. The score by Ravi Basrur of KGF fame elevates a few emotional scenes. Cinematography by V Manikandan is good. Editing should have been better. Production values are quite rich.

Verdict :

On the whole, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is not an honest remake of Veeram. The mediocre plot and outdated scenes make it a boring fare. Except for a few emotional scenes and Salman’s performance, the movie has nothing new to offer. You may skip this film and find a better option for this weekend.
