Bobby Deol is doing some really interesting films in his second innings and the next in line is Love Hostel. The film is streaming on Zee 5 and let’s see how it is.

 

Story

The film is about a couple Ahmed Shaukeen (Vikrant Massey) and Jyoti (Sanya Malhotra). While Ahmed is a drug peddler, Jyothi belongs to a rich politician’s family. The couple elopes and marries in court and is sent to a love hostel where similar couples are lodged. The twist in the tale arises when the girl’s family sends a shooter named Dagar(Bobby Deol) to kill the couple. How will the young couple escape this situation is the basic story of the film?

 

Plus Points

The film is an intense thriller and has Bobby Deol in a deadly avatar. He looks crooked and keeps gunning down people like bees. His role has been designed quite well and Bobby is a special attraction. Vikrant Massey is a superb actor and he as a desperate lover wins hearts with his performance.

The film is about honor killing and the manner in which the story is set amidst real-life dangerous characters is quite good. Sanya Malhotra as the heroine who speaks her mind is also good. Her body language and the way she behaves in a brave manner in tense situations are impressive.

 

Minus Points

The film has a simple story and there are not many twists and turns. The first half of the film looks a bit rushed. The director comes to the point right away and does not dwell much on the love story.

Also, Bobby Deol has a tragic past and that is the reason he behaves in a particular way. The director should have established this angle in a better manner for his character to have created more impact.

 

Technical Aspects

The film is produced by Shahrukh Khan and his production values are amazing. The BGM, rustic locales, and the way Love Hostel is showcased looks very good. Dialogues are minimal and the action blocks are good. Director Shanker Raman has showcased the film in a gritty manner but if he would have added more emotions, things would have been even better.

 

Verdict
On the whole, Love Hostel is a gritty action drama with fab performances. The setup, thrills are superb. But the lack of enough emotions takes the film down at regular intervals. But still, this film has a crisp runtime and realistic action to be given a shot.
