Music Review : Maharshi – Work to an extent

Maharshi_audio_songs

The complete audio of Maharshi is finally out in the open. Composed by the talented Devi Sri Prasad, let’s now see how this album turns out to be.

Song 1: Choti Choti BaateinChoti Choti Baatein

Analysis: The first song in the album is Choti Choti Baatein. As soon as you start listening to this song, you instantly remember DSP’s previous compositions. The lyrics are simple and DSP himself sings this number on a lighter note which is good. But the spark which is needed in friendship numbers is missing a bit here. The tune gets interesting as the song moves ahead and is easy on the ears.

Everest Anchuna

Song 2: Everest Anchuna

Analysis:  Perhaps the weakest song in the album, Everest Anchuna is a number which does not make much impact. The song is a hip hop number which has been sung by Hema Chandra and Vishnu Priya. The mood of the song is normal and does not sound new. The only plus here is Hema Chandra’s singing which is lively. These kinds of songs will click only after you watch them on screen.

Song 3: Nuvve SamasthamNuvve Samastham

Analysis:  Continuing the album, the third song is Nuvve Samastham. Sung by Yasin Nazir, this song once again gives you a dejavu feeling of DSP’s old tunes. But the manner in which the word Nuvve Samastham is used sounds good. Once again, the lyrics by Sree Mani are pretty good and make this song click to an extent.

Song 4: Paala PittaPaala Pitta

Analysis:  Every album has a fun number and Maharshi has it in the form of Paala Pitta. Though the folk number sounds old school, it has good lyrics by Sree Mani and upbeat tune. Rahul Spiligunj’s energetic singing and MM Manasi’s soothing voice make this song special. The hookup line and the manner in which music is used to make it catchy sound good. This song will be a bigger hit after seeing Mahesh and Pooja’s dance moves on screen.

Song 5: Padara PadaraPadara Padara

Analysis:  Now on to the serious song in the album Padara Padara. This song has everything in it and makes an impact right away. Sung by the super talented Shankar Mahadevan, this song is all about the pain and revolution of the farmers. The tune is haunting and the lyrics are quite meaningful. Montage number with emotional visuals, this song will be a winner on screen.

Song 6: Phir ShuruPhir Shuru

Analysis:  Yet another hard-hitting song in the album is Phir Shuru. Sung by Benny Dayal, this song comes at a crucial time in the film. Tune wise, there is nothing new but the lyrics are quite inspiring and make the number sound okay. Looks like this song will have racy visuals which will elevate this song on screen.

Verdict:-

On the whole, the album of Maharshi is definitely not Devi Sri Prasad’s best works. He churns out numbers which are situational and suit the mood of the film. Though the songs will not be chartbusters, they have their own charm. Padara Padara, Choti Choti Baatein, and Paala Pitta are our picks and will click in the coming days. We need to see how the fans and regular listeners lap up this album.
