A small film titled Nachindi Girl Friendu, starring Uday Shankar and Jennifer Emmanuel in the lead roles, hit the screens today. Guru Pawan is the director. Let’s see how the film is.

Story:

Rajaram (Uday Shankar), a B.Com graduate living in Vizag, thinks of making big in life by doing a fund management course. Rajaram’s friend Cherry (Madhunandhan) requests Rajaram to help him reach his interview location as his bike gets punctured. Rajaram accepts, and during this journey, he comes across Sandy (Jennifer Emmanuel) and falls for her. However, he neglects his friend’s request and keeps following Sandy. Sandy also falls for Rajaram. When everything is going smoothly, a shocking disclosure happens, which astounds Rajaram. What is it? Did Rajaram overcome it? This forms part of the rest of the film.

Plus Points:

Uday Shankar did well in the film. The actor’s comedy timing and performance are good, and especially his fun scenes with Mandhunandhan are engaging. Uday also performed the action sequences in a fair manner. Jennifer Emmanuel was decent as the female lead, and her character is nicely linked to the point taken.

Srikanth Iyengar again performs well in an important role, and the actor always continues to amaze. Though comedian Pruthvi only appears for a brief time, he manages to evoke laughs with his one-liners.

The main point taken and the intent of the director to make people aware of the frauds and scams that might occur in the stock market are fine. The film also talks about the impact and relevance of the stock market in the lives of middle-class people who form the majority of the population, which makes sense. There aren’t many movies that have come on this trading concept, and thus this film is a different attempt.

Minus Points:

The main drawback is not entering the actual point until the last 30 minutes. While all the important moments happen toward the end hurriedly, the depth is missing, and the narrative is flawed in other places. So we don’t connect completely to the film. The actual point should have been appropriately established, and a separate track should have run in the background to create curiosity about what is happening. As that didn’t happen, the thrilling elements won’t surprise us.

The love story is dragged on, and at the same time, it is not appealing. A few songs are not required and should have been eliminated, as the makers had a fascinating concept on hand. The film’s writing needed massive corrections. For example, a character who is an expert and connoisseur in the stock market gets fooled in a silly manner.

However, it doesn’t stop there and repeats in another similar scene. These scenes play a crucial role in the film’s plot but are not handled well. Also, more research was required on the subject matter, which is a vast topic. Finally, the app which was talked about in the movie also needed a better presentation.

Technical Aspects:

The movie has a very good background score by Gifton Elias. Especially a few scenes in the second half are rightly balanced with the good BGM. The cinematography by Siddam Manohar is neat, and so are the production values. However, the editing team should have shortened the film’s length slightly.

The direction by Guru Pawan is below-par, and he didn’t succeed completely in making an engaging film despite picking an exciting and relevant topic. More groundwork was required from the writing team. Reducing the love track and having more scenes related to the core point would have made much difference.

Verdict:

On the whole, Nachindi Girl Friendu has a relevant topic, but the narration didn’t do justice to its potential. The director’s intention is clear, but the way things are presented hastily is a letdown. More depth in writing and a better screenplay was needed for this movie. However, you can still give it a try for the new concept the film deals with.
