Star character artiste late Srihari’s elder son Meghamsh Srihari is making his acting debut with a road movie, titled Rajdooth. Several film industry well-wishers have lent their support to Meghamsh and Disco Santhi and promoted the movie. Rajdooth has hit screens today. Let’s see how it fared:
Story:
Sanjay (Meghamsh) is a carefree youngster who falls in love with his father’s close friend’s daughter Priya (Nakshatra). He constantly requests Priya’s father to approve their relationship and let him marry Priya. Her father then tells Sanjay to bring him a rare Rajdooth bike. Will Sanjay manage to bring the bike? Will he win Priya’s love? You have to watch the film to know the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Meghamsh makes a decent debut and plays his part well. He impresses with his dialogue delivery and dances. His performance in the bike theft scene deserves special mention. Heroine Nakshatra looks pretty and also does a decent job with her acting. The supporting actors too have done a good job.
Minus Points:
The weak story and screenplay are the major drawbacks in the movie. Too many unnecessarily lengthy comedy scenes further impact the proceedings. The directors duo has failed to execute the story which had a lot of scope for emotions. Overdose of melodrama further turns the narrative boring and flowless.
Technical Aspects:
Although directors Carthyk and Arjun try to make an impression with the scenes involving the bike, they fail to come up with an engaging story. Cinematography by Vidya Sagar Chintha is quite good in the opening scenes and a few scenes in the second half.
Coming to the music, Varun Sunil does an okay job. Vijay Vardhan’s editing is decent. The production values are good for a film made by and featuring all newcomers.
Verdict:
On the whole, Rajdooth fails to impress. Barring a few bike journey scenes and a few comedy scenes, the rest of the film suffers due to an underwhelming screenplay which often turns lethargic. With two more films releasing this Friday and old movies still doing well, Rajdooth’s box-office performance remains to be seen.
