Oh My God is a Tamil film that has been streaming in Telugu as well. Starring Arun Vijay and his son Arnav Vijay in key roles, let’s now see how this film turns out to be.

Story:

Fernando(Vijay Rai) is a rich dog owner and breeds the best of dogs. But when one particular breed is born blind, he orders it to kill. But due to a silly mistake committed by his goons, the dog escapes and reaches the hands of Arjun(Arnav Vijay). The young kid raises the puppy and makes him participate in the biggest pet dog competition where Fernando’s dog is also taking part. The rest of the story is about how Arjun makes his dog win the prestigious competition against all odds.

Plus Points:

Arun Vijay’s son, Arnav plays the key role in this film and all his scenes with his father have come out quite well. The entire film is based on Arnav and the little kid does well in his key role. All his scenes with the puppy are decent.

The other supporting actors like Mahima Nambiar and Vijayakumar deliver what their roles require. The manner in which the relationship between three generations of the young kid is showcased looks good.

Minus Points:

Vinay Rai plays the main villain in this film and he goes overboard in many scenes. The emotions between the puppy and its owner should have been elevated a bit more to make the proceedings emotional and gripping.

As the target audience is kids, the director takes things way too easy and his narration gets silly and abrupt in many scenes. There is no drama in the narration and this is where things go for a toss in the second half.

One more drawback of the film is its predictable nature. There is nothing new that is showcased in terms of story and execution making the second half quite dull and boring.

Technical Aspects:

The background score by Nivas K Prasanna elevates every possible scene Director Sarov Shanmugan has done a strictly okay job with the film. He picked up a good story that can easily win any heart but his narration lacked focus and the needed sympathy factor in any pet film is missing. The screenplay is lethargic and things work well only in the last half an hour of the film. The Telugu dubbing is also okay.

Verdict:

On the whole, Oh My Dog is a simple dog drama that has a decent premise and is started off well. But things go haywire as the narration lacks focus. There is no proper drama for the audience to get glued hence making this film a very dull watch.
