Talented Malayalam actress Poorna’s female-centric film, Sundari, also starring Arjun Ambati as the main lead, has his the silver screens today. Kalyanji Gogana is the director, while Rizwan has produced the movie under Rizwan Entertainment banner. Check out this review to find out how much the has managed to impress the audience.

Story:

Sundari (Poorna) is an innocent village girl. A youngster named Prabhu (Arjun) comes to Sundari’s village to attend a wedding. He falls in love with Sundari at first sight. He convinces Sundari’s parents and brings her to the city. The kind of troubles Sundari faces in the city, the problems Prabhu faces when he loses his job and the efforts Sundari makes to get out of those problems and finally, the twist Sundari’s life takes in the end form the main crux of the story.

Plus Points:

Sundari begins with a different concept and progresses well with family emotions, romantic scenes, and emotional drama until the unexpected climax twist. As usual, Poorna performed quite well in the role of Sundari. Her acting as an innocent girl is a big plus for the film. In the climax in particular, Poorna’s performance will leave everyone impressed.

Also, the chemistry between Poorna and Prabhu and the various shades in Poorna’s character are quite good. Arjun, who played Prabhu, also did complete justice to his role. Even the rest of the cast did justice to their roles. The smooth pacing and the lack of lag anywhere in the movie, especially in the first half, is a huge relief.

Minus Points:

Although the twist in the climax is quite impressive, some sloppy scenes in the middle spoil the experience to an extent. Also, certain scenes should have been conceived even better. Had the main motive behind the Sundari and Swamiji’s track was effective, the main conflict in the film would have been elevated strongly.

Emotions and variations in the scenes where Sundari comes to know the truth in the second half should have been sustained well. In some portions, the narrative appears too cinematic as logic goes missing. If Sundari’s characterization had more depth, the revenge drama would have been very effective.

Technical Aspects:

Balreddy’s cinematography is good, with beautiful visuals and camera angles. The background score by Suresh Bobbili is okay. Even the songs are okayish. Editing is decent and production values are impressive. Although director Kalyanji Gogana choose an interesting storyline, he could not come up with a better treatment to execute the story well.

Verdict:

Sundari comes with an impressive emotional twist along with engaging family drama in some places. Apart from the occasional comedy and bold elements, the performances of the lead actors is also a main plus for the film. However, a few scenes are boring and the second half is not immersive as expected. Those who like family dramas will find this movie engaging.
