I’m Game is the latest Malayalam movie that hit the big screens today. Dulquer Salmaan has joined hands with RDX-fame director Nahas Hidhayath for this action thriller. Amid decent buzz, the film is out now, and here’s the review to find out how it fares.

Story:

Dan John (Dulquer Salmaan) is a compulsive gambler who loses everything and ends up drowning in debt. Refusing to back down, he turns to cricket betting, only to lose whatever little he has left. Frustrated and desperate to recover his money, Dan creates a massive ruckus, an act that ultimately leaves his life hanging by a thread.

Following the incident, he slips into a coma. When he eventually wakes up, everyone assumes he has returned to normal, but Dan soon discovers that something bizarre has happened to him. What exactly happened to Dan? What is this strange phenomenon he has encountered, and how does he deal with the chaos that follows? The rest of the story reveals the answers.

Plus Points:

Dulquer Salmaan is well known for picking movies with fresh and interesting ideas. He has good taste in stories, and I’m Game is another honest try in that direction. The main plot feels new and makes people curious right from the start. That freshness is one of the biggest strengths of the movie.

Dulquer gives a very good performance, and there is almost nothing to complain about his acting. He puts in a lot of hard work, especially during the interval scene, which looks great on screen. The unusual story also gives him enough room to show different emotions and shades of his character.

Kayadu Lohar looks good on screen, and her scenes with Dulquer work well enough. Mysskin does a decent job as the villain, and Samyuktha Vishwanath leaves a good mark despite her small role. Antony Varghese enters in the second half and delivers a solid, emotional performance that helps the movie.

The background music, camera work, and fast editing in the fight scenes make the film look clean and stylish. All the technical departments come together nicely to give the movie a grand, commercial look.

Minus Points:

The story idea is fresh, but the way it is told on screen is quite normal. The first half sets up the plot nicely and brings in a big twist, which creates high hopes for the rest of the film. However, the second half slowly loses its grip because many scenes feel repeated and the story becomes easy to guess.

The action scenes are fun at the beginning, but they soon feel boring because you always know what is going to happen next. The director and writer should have added more surprises here to keep the excitement alive. Also, the cricket betting angle has been seen in many movies before, and the film does not show anything truly new with that topic.

The lengthy runtime is another big problem for the film. A story like this does not need nearly three hours to finish. Cutting about twenty to thirty minutes would have made the film much faster and far more enjoyable to watch.

Mysskin does an okay job, but his character needed a stronger presence to feel scary. A younger and more stylish villain could have made the hero-villain clash much more intense. As it stands, his role does not leave the kind of punch you expect from a main bad guy.

Technical Aspects:

The director, Nahas Hidhayath, starts with an exciting story idea, but he struggles to turn it into a non-stop thrilling ride. He shows real talent in a few sequences, but he needed a firmer grip on the story during the second half. Better pacing would have kept the excitement high until the very end.

The editing by Chaman Chacko is good in parts, especially during the big action scenes. However, he should have cut down several slow and repeated scenes to make the movie flow better. A tighter edit would have kept the audience far more engaged.

The cinematography by Jimshi Khalid makes every frame look rich and colorful. Jakes Bejoy’s background music is easily one of the best parts of the movie, as it brings great energy to the fight scenes. The overall production values are high and give the film a proper big-screen look.

Verdict:

On the whole, I’m Game has an interesting plot, but the average storytelling pulls it down. Dulquer Salmaan and the technical team do their best to lift the film, but the slow second half and predictable scenes stop it from becoming a big hit. The movie works only in bits and pieces, so action fans who like fresh ideas can give it a try with low expectations.

Starring : Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Shravan Reddy, Ulka Gupta, Jovika Vijay Kumar

Popular producer MS Raju returned to direction with the mystic horror thriller Agadha. The movie starring Kamakshi Bhaskarla hit the big screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Mahima (Ulka Gupta) and her family become victims of an evil force named Agadha. One mysterious event after another keeps happening. Mahima’s relative and famous yogini Mahadevi (Kamakshi Bhaskarla) comes to their rescue. Who is Agadha? Why is it so powerful? Did Mahadevi confront Agadha? These questions form the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

The visual aesthetics are neatly handled, giving the vibe of a horror film. The colour palette is in perfect sync with the dark nature of Agadha. The locations look natural, and credit goes to the technical team.

The second half of the film has a couple of good moments. The scene where Kamakshi Bhaskarla tries to control a spirit-possessed person is effective. The key twist revealed in the latter half is decent

This genre has become a walk in the park for Kamakshi Bhaskarla, and the actress does her job quite nicely in Agadha too. Shravan Reddy, Jovika Vijakumar, and Ulka Gupta are fine in their respective parts.

Minus Points:

Agadha had the potential to be an arresting horror thriller, but the execution is where the film doesn’t pack a punch. The screenplay is flat for the most part, with barely any exciting elements.

The much-required thrills are missing big time. The problem isn’t with the jump scares, regarding which the team had already set the right expectations. The tension is missing in the proceedings, making it difficult to stay invested.

The narrative doesn’t have enough meat, as it lacks urgency. The pacing is slow in most parts. The first half, especially, doesn’t offer much apart from introducing the conflict. Even after a key character goes missing, the people close to him don’t seem to bat an eye, which comes across as surprising.

Technical Aspects:

Rakesh Venkatapuram’s background score and Nani Chamidisetty’s visuals are impactful. The editing could have been much better. Production values are fine.

Direction by MS Raju leaves a lot to be desired. The subject looks interesting on paper, but the same wasn’t translated on to the screen effectively. Apart from a few moments, the screenplay isn’t exciting.

Verdict:

On the whole, Agadha is a below-par horror thriller with a decent premise, but the storytelling isn’t up to the mark. Kamakshi Bhaskarla is neat in her role, while the rest of the cast are decent. The thrills are missing, as one would expect in such a film. There are only a few moments that hold our attention, but overall, the movie falls short of being satisfactory.

Movie Name : Korean Kanakaraju

Release Date : August 07, 2026
123telugu.com Rating : 3.25/5
Starring : Varun Tej, Ritika Nayak, Satya and Others
Director : Merlapaka Gandhi
Producers : Rajeev Reddy Yeduguru, Pramod Uppalapati, Vamsi Krishna Reddy
Music Director : Thaman S
Cinematographer : Manojh Reddy
Editor : Satyaa G

After a very long time, a Varun Tej film arrived in cinemas with good hype. The movie in discussion is Korean Kanakaraju, directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. Ritika Nayak plays the female lead in this horror comedy. Let’s see how the film is.

Story:

Kanakaraju (Varun Tej) heads a traditional folk performance troupe in Penukonda, in the Rayalaseema region. He falls for Chaitra (Ritika Nayak), who works at the Kia plant and is a K-pop fanatic. Somehow, Kanakaraju gets close to Chaitra, but his life turns upside down when a Korean spirit possesses him.

What is the backstory of the spirit? How and why did it enter Kanakaraju’s body? What do Kanakaraju, Chaitra, and his friend Kisttappa do to get rid of the problem? This forms the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

Horror-comedy is one genre in which Tollywood has been lagging behind over the last few years. It is a genre that can do wonders commercially, but it is equally challenging to crack. Merlapaka Gandhi rose to the occasion and delivered a neat film that has entertainment spread throughout its runtime.

Kudos to Merlapaka Gandhi for coming up with a clean entertainer infused with healthy comedy throughout. The director grabbed eyeballs with Venkatadri Express and Express Raja, and after a while, he has once again left his mark with this one.

There are several blocks that will make you laugh your heart out. Varun Tej and Satya’s combo scenes will tickle your funny bone. The best part about the screenplay is that it neatly generates comedy while also telling the story in parallel. The plot is never obstructed or halted to bring in fun.

The film entirely belongs to Varun Tej and Satya. Varun is splendid in both avatars, showcasing ample variation. He is likeable as Kanakaraju, while he looks pretty stylish as the Korean guy. Satya is a true gem unearthed by the industry. His histrionics and comic timing are utilized to the best in this film.

Ritika Nayak plays her part quite nicely and helps the story progress forward. Master Revanth, Muralidhar Goud, and the Korean actors lend a good support.

Minus Points:

The entire team had one intention in their minds, which was to entertain the audience thoroughly. In this process, they threw the logical part out of the window at times. To enjoy the magic, one should ignore the logical errors.

What could have been a blockbuster is slightly undermined by the climax and not-so-great CGI. This portion isn’t handled at its best and also feels rushed. Some explanations should have been given to make things better. The violence could have been toned down at certain instances as the film is made for family audience.

Technical Aspects:

Thaman gave decent songs, and the background score is impactful, working well with the situations. Manojh Reddy’s cinematography is stunning. Especially, the visuals during the Korean portions are well captured. Editor Satyaa did a solid job in ensuring the pacing remained tight.

Coming to writer-director Merlapaka Gandhi, he has instilled good hope for Tollywood in churning out horror comedies. The narrative is peppered with amusing episodes consistently. The one liners keep coming and deliver plenty of laughs. Even the much-viral ‘amateurish’ dialogue has been used effectively. One particular block in the second half featuring Satya, Ritika Nayak, and Muralidhar Goud is hilarious to say the least.

Verdict:

On the whole, Korean Kanakaraju is a neat horror-comedy entertainer that keeps the laughs coming consistently. The Indo-Korean crossover, healthy comedy, Varun Tej’s dual avatar, and Satya’s fantastic comedy timing keep the proceedings entertaining. Some blemishes include logic taking a backseat and an underwhelming climax with below-par CGI. That said, Korean Kanakaraju is a fun watch that delivers good entertainment. Recommended.
