The big-ticket entertainer Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 – AK47 hits theatres today. Director Trivikram Srinivas and “Victory” Venkatesh have worked together on three films before, but this is their first time teaming up as director and lead actor. Here is our review to see how the movie fares.

Story:

Chitti Babu Thotti (Venkatesh), his wife Swarna Thotti (Srinidhi Shetty), and their children struggle to manage their lives amid mounting debts. Their fortunes take a turn when they suddenly win a Rs. 100 crore lottery and buy a villa worth Rs. 20 crore. However, their happiness doesn’t last long as a Bihar-based dacoit gang, known for committing crimes for money, sets its sights on the newly wealthy family. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Venkatesh is in his element. A middle-class character with a mass appeal and a comic touch is a tailor-made role for him, and he delivers it effortlessly. He also shines in the action scenes. Srinidhi Shetty does a good job, especially with her comic timing. Trivikram’s writing also helps in shaping her character well.

The kids, Raja Prajwal and Yuvina Parthavi, are equally good. Satya’s comedy is another positive aspect that makes the movie enjoyable. Raghu Babu, Rao Ramesh, and others also do their parts well.

The first half is well-written and balances comedy and action nicely. The interval action sequence is a major highlight. The twist in the second half also clears the doubts about whether the story has similarities to a recent blockbuster.

Thaman’s background score works well, adding to the impact of important moments. The film takes the lead characters through an emotional journey in a fun way, which is another familiar touch of Trivikram’s writing.

Minus Points:

Coming to the characters, Nivetha Pethuraj has very little to do in the story. Seeing such a talented actress in a role with hardly any scope is a bit disappointing. Nara Rohith is just okay, but a more notable actor could have done better. Udaybir Sandhu gets a good role, but a stronger performance could have added more impact to the drama.

The story itself is not particularly engaging, though it manages to maintain a decent flow. The screenplay keeps things moving. However, the emotional scenes that the director tries to establish don’t work effectively and feel artificial. A stronger emotional background could have helped audiences connect with these moments.

The second half opens with a twist but doesn’t maintain the same flow, with a few hiccups along the way. It manages to hold together, but doesn’t match the impact of the first half. The songs also don’t add much to the movie.

Technical Aspects:

Director and writer Trivikram delivers the film in his familiar style, with his trademark comedy and action blended into the story. However, a little more focus on the emotional portions could have taken the movie to another level.

Navin Nooli’s editing is surprisingly good in the first half but stumbles in the second half. Overall, his work is decent. Thaman scores well with the background music, but his songs don’t add much charm to the film. The ‘Narayanamma’ song, in particular, feels unnecessary.

Kevin Kumar’s action choreography in the interval sequence gives a satisfying feel. Ravi K Chandran’s cinematography is decent, and so are the production values.

Verdict:

On the whole, Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 is a decent entertainer. The first half works really well, thanks to the healthy comedy from Venkatesh, Srinidhi Shetty, and Satya. The interval episode is a major highlight. However, the less impressive second half, underwritten characters, and lack of strong emotional moments make the film a bit dull in places. Despite these shortcomings, it is an entertaining family watch, offering a decent mix of fun and action.

A while ago, we reported the day-one estimates of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. The makers have now revealed the official collections, and the actuals have exceeded expectations by a good margin.

Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu collected a mind-boggling Rs. 84 crores gross worldwide on day one (inclusive of paid premieres on Sunday). The opening day numbers are on par with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, which was also spearheaded by Chiru. Despite a Monday release, Megastar unleashed a tsunami and once again proved why he is the boss of the box office.

No other senior hero from Tollywood has an Rs. 80 crore opener globally, and now Megastar has two films in this list. Fans feel that the movie could have easily entered the Rs. 100 crore opening club had it been a Sunday release. Apart from Chiru’s mega massive stardom, Anil Ravipudi’s craze among family audiences and Venkatesh’s presence also came in handy.

Sankranthi has not yet started, but Chiranjeevi is already giving festival vibes, with crowds flocking to theatres in big numbers. It’s going to be a rampage this week, with the holiday season coming into play. Nayanthara played the female lead. Sahu Garapati and Sushmita Konidela produced Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu under the banners of Shine Screens and Gold Box Entertainments. Bheems Ceciroleo composed the tunes.

Megastar Chiranjeevi teamed up with Anil Ravipudi for the first time for the family entertainer Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. The movie features Nayanthara as the female lead. The biggie is also special since it features Victory Venkatesh in a cameo. Amid good expectations and fan frenzy, the movie hit the big screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

As the title suggests, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is all about an NSG officer, Shankara Varaprasad (Chiranjeevi), who has a broken marriage with a wealthy woman, Sasirekha (Nayanthara). The leading lady divorces the protagonist after a few misunderstandings. The rest of the film is about how Shankara Varaprasad fixes his troubled married life.

Plus Points:

Inarguably, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu showcases the most entertaining avatar of Megastar Chiranjeevi post comeback, and it’s a delight to watch the legendary actor at his absolute best. The actor’s energy levels even at this age are remarkable, and he looks highly charming and stylish.

Chiru has earned massive stardom not just due to his larger-than-life mass roles, but more for his relatable characters that connect directly with middle-class audiences. Anil Ravipudi depicts his love towards Chiru by perfectly understanding this and presents the Megastar in a way we once adored him. If Waltair Veerayya brought back vintage Chiru to some extent, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu does that to a great extent. Be it comedy or dance or emotions, Megastar proves why he is the king of entertainment.

Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is a family drama that primarily deals with the broken marriage of the lead pair. In his trademark style, Anil Ravipudi loads the movie with enjoyable comedy sequences, but there are also some sensible emotions. They are not great, but they seem sensible in a film that is made purely to entertain audiences. Especially the portion where Chiru addresses the growing divorce cases is neatly presented.

Comparatively, the first half is more entertaining, and the editing here is tight with a fast-paced screenplay. Chiru’s scenes with kids came out very well. Nayanthara shines in a neat role, bringing her signature charm. Her scenes with Megastar came out pretty well. Especially their initial conversation scenes, which rely mostly on gestures, are beautiful.

Venkatesh’s track, though short-lived, is amusing. Chiru and Venky dancing to each other’s popular songs is purely a treat to watch. Venkatesh’s styling is very well done. The lyrical songs have already become good hits, and they are presented well on screen. The surprise folk song is a blast during the interval.

Minus Points:

Just like Sankranthiki Vasthunam, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is also made solely with the intention to amuse audiences by offering a harmless fun experience, and in this process, logic goes for a toss. To enjoy the proceedings, one needs to forget the logical part.

The story isn’t new, and if someone expects novelty, they might be a bit disappointed. The main complaint is the villain track, which is quite routine in nature. Sudev Nair, who shined in Pawan Kalyan’s OG, played the antagonist, but his character is underwritten as the family drama and fun moments dominate his portions.

The second half feels a bit stretched, and the editing could have been tighter here. It’s not that this hour is bad, but due to a few repetitive moments, the impact is slightly reduced. The climax also has a tinge of comedy, with the hero and villain engaging in banter, but the fight sequence lacks punch and the movie ends on a rather simple note.

Technical Aspects:

Bheems Ceciroleo did a good job, and his songs are neatly translated onto the screen. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is fine, and some visuals are pretty good. The editing, as stated earlier, is a mixed bag. The styling and looks of Chiru are damn good.

Anil Ravipudi once again delivers as he packs the film with enough captivating moments. Self-deprecating humor isn’t explored often in our industry, and it’s good to see him regularly explore this angle. As promised, the director presents the Megastar in a way fans and audiences will celebrate him, while also ensuring there is a touch of emotion. That said, there are some over-the-top moments which Anil should try to control, as at times they can become draining for viewers.

Verdict:

On the whole, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is an enjoyable family drama with a good amount of fun moments and decent emotions. This is easily Megastar Chiranjeevi’s most entertaining avatar post comeback. His minute expressions, comic timing, histrionics, and emotional act will please audiences and fans. The highly engaging first half, Nayanthara and Venkatesh’s presence, and good music are the other major positives. However, the momentum drops in the second half, with repetitive scenes, regular villain track, and a simple climax. Had these aspects been handled better, the impact would have been much higher. Still, Anil Ravipudi packs the film with enough ingredients, making this flick a satisfactory festive watch.
