Film star turned politician Pawan Kalyan today appealed to the Telangana government to allot land and build new houses for Telugu cinema workers in Hyderabad. The Janasena chief urged CM KCR to complete the construction of new houses in Chitrapuri Colony in Manikonda and allot another 3 acres which will give shelter to over 30 thousand cine workers.
Several members of the Telugu Cine Workers Cooperative Society today met with Pawan and requested him to voice their concerns about their shelter. Pawan recollected that the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh CM Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy had allotted 67.16 acres of land to build houses for nearly 4 thousand workers when the Telugu film industry was shifted from Madras to Hyderabad.
“Our industry has grown big now and the livelihood of more than 30 thousand workers from AP and Telangana depends on it. The state government earns crores of rupees from the industry. I urge the Telangana government to provide shelter to our workers, Pawan said.
