Director Veerabhadram is a very happy man these days. He has scored a consecutive victory with the movie ‘Poola Rangadu’ after the commercial success of his first movie ‘Aha Na Pellanta’. ‘Poola Rangadu’ has been received well across Andhra Pradesh and the movie is running well. We caught up with director Veerabhadram for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts from the conversation.
Q) Congrats for your second consecutive success. How does it feel to score back to back hits?
A) (Smiles) Thank You very much. I am extremely happy and the result of ‘Poola Rangadu’ is a fitting response to the hard work done by me and my team. It feels great to score back to back hits and I hope I can continue to deliver good commercial entertainers in future. People in all centers are recognizing me and that is the biggest gift I received from this movie.
Q) What do you think is the biggest reason for the movie’s success?
A) There are several reasons. Entertainment in the story and in the narration is crucial for a movie’s success these days. I have taken care of that in ‘Poola Rangadu’ . There is also a good amount of Telugu nativity in the film, be it the title or the village setting. Many of my friends in US and UK have called me to express their happiness at getting a chance to see a good authentic Telugu movie.
Q What is the best compliment you received after the movie’s successful release?
A) Everyone has been complimenting me for a good job. Industry biggies like Gemini Kiran and R.R.Venkat have personally congratulated me for coming up with a profitable venture for the producer. The film industry is praising me for catching the public pulse well.
Q) You seem to have picked up the public pulse well. How do you manage to do that?
A) Whenever I am free, I keep visiting shopping malls, railway stations and ordinary cafes to hang out and observe the trends of the common man. I listen to what they are saying and how they react to things. That gives me an idea of their expectations and their mental wavelength. I make sure that I incorporate that in my films.
Q) What can we expect from you next?
A) My next offering will be an action entertainer titled ‘Bhai’ . I will be doing the film with a big hero and big producer. I will reveal the details to you soon. ‘Bhai’ will be my best film and it will give me a 3rd consecutive success.
Q) You seem to be very confident about ‘Bhai’. Any particular reason?
A) (Smiles) Yes. I rely very strongly on my script and screenplay. I will approach any hero or producer with a proposal only after I complete my groundwork on the subject and I make sure that I stick to the subject. When you stay faithful to a strong script, success will automatically come.
Q) You have given Sunil the biggest hit of his career. What was his reaction?
A) Sunil is extremely happy about the film’s outcome. He is overjoyed and he said ” You have rewarded my faith in you completely” . With this movie, Sunil will no longer be called just a comedy hero. Isha Chawla too is very happy. This is a major break for her and people are appreciating her performance and character.
Q) The movie has turned out to be a profitable venture for the producers. Are they happy with your work?
A) Extremely Happy. I assured them during production itself that I will give them a hit. But even they never imagined the film to be such a big hit. My guru E.V.V. Satyanarayana garu always insisted that a movie is good only if producer makes money. I follow that principle.
Q) Would you like to convey anything to our readers?
A) I would like to thank them all for watching the movie and for making it a big hit. Their support means a lot to me and I will continue to entertain them in future with good films.
