Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam is all set to entertain the audiences this Sankranti season. The fun thriller directed by Anil Ravipudi features Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh as the female leads. Dil Raju and Shirish backed this film. Ahead of the release, Anil Ravipudi interacted with media and here is the transcript.
Whose idea was it to name the film Sankranthiki Vasthunam? Did you choose this title just to release the film for the festival?
We planned it as a festival vibe film right from the beginning. F2 came for Pongal but F3 missed the festival season. We wanted our film to arrive during Sankranthi but we didn’t announce the title back then. This film is about a rescue operation which concludes by Sankranthi season.
You came up with unique promotions for Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Tell us about that.
The entire scenario has changed post COVID. It isn’t sufficient if we just make a great film but it is equally important to promote it. If we can’t bring audiences to the theatres then that’s our fault. Audience have become very selective lately. Hence we focused more on social media marketing. A star like Venky Garu going all out for the promotions helped us.
Whose idea was it to bring back Ramana Gogula Garu?
When Bheems composed the tunes for Godari Gattu song we wanted someone with a peculiar voice to croon it. We all chose Ramana Gogula Garu but it was Bheems who approached him. Ramana Gogula Garu brought his expertise to the table. We thought the song would be a hit but it became a global chartbuster with 85 million views.
Tell us more details about how the film will be?
With Sankranthi Vasthunam I tried a different genre with Venkatesh Garu. It is a crime rescue adventure and high prominence is given to entertainment. Even if I make an action film with Venky Garu I will make sure to include entertainment. I like seeing him in entertaining sagas.
What’s the reason for doing more films under Dil Raju Garu’s banner?
I have been travelling with Dil Raju Garu since Patas. If I connect to someone, I will continue to travel with them. Dil Raju Garu and Shirish Garu are just like my family. I have been travelling with them for the past ten years.
