Interview: Lagadapati Sridhar – Virgin Story reflects the emotions, confusions and thoughts of teenagers

Actor Vikram Sahidev, who is the son of the successful producer Lagadapati Sridhar, is coming to entertain audiences with his new movie, Virgin Story, from February 18, 2022. On this occasion, we met with the producer, Lagadapati Sridhar, for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

What’s the reason for producing Virgin Story?

Director, Pradip B Atluri came up with a bounded script and narrated me the story. Immediately, I told him to commence the shoot the very next day. I have produced many family-oriented and mass movies.

Now, I came up with this youthful subject because youngsters are the majority of audiences coming to theaters after the rise of OTT platforms. Besides, I have never touched this kind of youthful subject. So, I produced this movie to attract younger audiences.

Tell us about Virgin Story?

Virgin Story is an out and out youthful movie that reflects the emotions, confusions, romantic thoughts and others of teenagers. How parents need to react in such cases will be shown in this movie. I think you will find an answer to “What is true love?’ with this movie.

I am confident about this project and decided to release the Hindi version as well. Senior director Raghavendra Rao garu will release a Hindi song from this movie tomorrow at an event.

Tell us about the hero’s characterisation in this movie?

Vikram Sahidev played an underdog and a boy next door character in this movie. He is an independent and responsible teenager, who is also a college dropout.

How did Vikram react after listening to this story?

When I told him to read the story, he finished it and said that Virgin Story has many aspects that will connect to his age group. He acted in this film with much excitement. Moreover, I will decide his next movie depending on the movie’s success.

What’s the reaction of CBFC after censor?

Censor board asked me why the film is named Virgin Story when there is nothing vulgar in the content. I replied to them that the story is virgin and titled it so to attract teenagers. The movie also has some adult content because the script demanded it.

Future projects?

I have many single line stories and if anyone comes with a bounded script, I will okay it for sure, I want to do a teenage romance story. My duty is producing the best movies for audiences.
