Manchu Lakshmi’s forthcoming crime-thriller, W/o Ram, is hitting the screens on July 20th. On this occasion, we had a brief interview with her. Here is the transcript.

Q) What is W/o Ram all about?

An unexpected incident changes the life of a married woman and how she handles these tough situations and emerges as a winner is the story. The film is going to be an edge of the seat thriller which will stick to the point and does not have any unnecessary deviations like songs and comedy episodes. I hope this film will give the audience a new kind of cinematic experience as the runtime of the film has also been kept very short

Q) Tell us about your role?

I’m playing as Deeksha an independent woman, who works for an NGO. Like I said, an unexpected incident makes Deeksha’s life go upside down. I got a very good scope to perform and showcased a variety of emotions in the film.

Q) By looking at the trailer everyone is drawing similarities to Vidya Balan’s Kahaani, Does this film really have such shades?

Except for both being female oriented and based on wives, nothing is the same between Kahaani and W/o Ram.

Q) Tell us about your director Vijay Kranthi?

The minute he met me and narrated this script I was just blown away. He is going to make it big in the film industry as his dedication and clarity on work and the way he addressed a crucial point will showcase his true talent.

Q) Why did you keep the film’s title as W/o Ram?

Initially, we had two to three titles in mind but after consulting with my close friends we went with this title. To be frank, I had a doubt whether the rural people will connect with the title are not, but again its an apt title for the film.

Q) Few words about your Ram?

Samrat is playing Ram’s character. He has limited screen space but will have an impact on the film throughout. He has done a nice job.

Q) How do you assess your performance?

I will visit theaters and watch the film secretly with the public to know the actual response of the film. By this, I can clearly find out what mistakes I have made in my performance.

Q) Next projects?

As of now, I’m listening to a few scripts. Apart from that, I’m debuting in Tamil with a film which has Jyothika in the main role.
